This sterling silver pendant was designed for a client who lost her baby at 22 weeks.  She wanted an urn that could hold his ashes, but she didn't want that to be the focal point, and she wanted something that she would be able to add to when she had more children.

The urn is a small hollow bead with a screw so she could add the remains and then safely seal them inside.  That portion is fixed to the chain and sits up high on her neck.  A small charm with name on one side and birth (and death) date on the back.

This necklace is deceptively simple. Just two small charms, both under 1/2”. But the meaning behind it is massive.

I was able to deliver this piece in person, which was meaningful beyond words.

As we met for the first time, after weeks of emails back and forth, she let me know she is pregnant again. :)

Below is the email from my client sent after the pendant had been delivered. I included it in full.

“Thank you so much for meeting with me last week and for doing a truly amazing job on the piece. I was able to get the ashes in that evening as I really wanted to wear it the next day. Even though I didn't cry when I first opened the box, I cried a ton while putting the ashes in. There is a lot of emotion and sentiment in that necklace."

I did a little write up below- feel free to use it in whatever way you can. It was really hard to capture everything this experience has meant to me. As I've mentioned before, I really think everything happens for a reason and I'm so glad my previous experiences led me to finding you. The necklace is perfect and I'm so excited to work with you to add the next disc later this year!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

"I asked Erin to help with a custom piece to commemorate my son, who died prematurely. Erin was extremely understanding and helpful in working with me to design exactly what I wanted. Three aspects I was looking for in particular was the ability to add to the necklace later on after having other children, a piece that I would be able to wear with anything, and a way to to honor my son by encapsulating some of his ashes. Erin was able to etch a rosemaling pattern, a traditional Scandinavian design, on the vessel which represented my Norwegian heritage and the fact that my son was born on Norway's Independence Day. I was blown away by how well she captured every aspect I wanted, in the perfect way. I absolutely love the piece and how meaningful it is because of the attention to detail and everything it symbolizes. It was an amazing experience to work with someone so compassionate and I'm so thankful for everything!"
