Introducing Poppy Studio (Atelier Coquelicot)
I am beyond excited to announce that I've moved into a brand new studio space! While I'll still have my small home studio, this move means I'll be able to offer more classes, workshops and in-person custom jewelry experiences
This dream started back in January when I first toured the space with another jewelry artist. We'd intended to share a space in one of the larger cabins, but it didn't feel like the right fit for her.
I, on the other hand, couldn't stop thinking about it.
After my most recent GEM retreat (Guided Experience Making custom jewelry) I was even more into the idea of having a larget space for these experiences, so I reached out again to the folks over at Camp Meade.
When they showed me Poppy Studio, it felt like the perfect fit, One of five sweet little cabins, the front of mine has a mural of colorful poppies painted by a local artist. The studio overlooks a green space with a stage for music, and many other local business are joining the complex. In addition to a community arts center, there is a yoga studio, a cool and funky second hand store, and Red Hen bakery is the perfect place to get a coffee and a pastry or a lunchtime snack (fresh baked bread, handmade soups, salads, sandwiches or a big ol' cookie!). The Local offers wine and beer by the bottle, and across the street, The Filling Station has an interesting menu for lunch or dinner. A glass artist is part of the complex too and I can't wait to see who else joins in the community
This new venture is both exciting and terrifying. There is a lot that goes into building up a teaching studio, including furniture, new tools and equipment (I bought a lapidary cabbing machine!) rent, insurance, security. Just when I think the list is complete, something else pops up (about time this little DBA became an LLC!)
I'm doing it solo, but relying on the support of friends and family. If you'd like to help "build" the studio, I've come up with a kind of fun little way for you to take part. I've made a limited collection of miniature bricks, each with a numbered poppy on the back. You can purchase just the brick charm alone, or add a chain. The money from these sales will go right back into making Poppy Studio a place that YOU would love to take classes in, shop, or sit on the couch with a coffee from Red Hen and have a little chat with me :)
(And if you're a lawyer who can help me figure out this DBA to LLC situation, PLEASE reach out 😅)
I hope you can feel my enthusiasm for this new space! And read on to get a coupon code for the Paradise City Craft Festival this coming weekend!
With love and excitement,
erin
