And then I'm off to teach this workshop in Tucson, Arizona
The workshop is Etched for Success, a perpetual journal with an etched metal cover.
What is a perpetual journal you ask? Well, let me start with a very brief backstory- I've got a real fear of the blank page. I LOVE a fresh notebook, stationary, beautiful paper and fancy pens, but when you put a gorgeous new journal in front of me, with creamy white, smooth pages, I'm paralyzed about making the first mark. For this reason, I've amassed quite a collection of blank journals, and all my thoughts, sketches, and to do list were written on random scraps of paper, the back of receipts, an odd napkin or two. So I made myself a journal with removable inserts, and it has been a game changer!
I've now taught this workshop out in New Mexico at Ghost Ranch as well as in Texas to sold-out seats, and will be teaching it in Arizona this February. But now I'm bringing it to Vermont!
In the workshop, participants will learn to etch metal (brass, copper or nickle silver) and we'll use decorative fabric to make the spine and back cover. The book is bound using the Secret Belgian Binding (there is no real "secret" as this is a very forgiving and fun book binding technique). Then, and this is the beauty of this book, we'll add our inserts.
I have mine set up with a planner section, a lined section, a section with blank pages, and a section with grid paper. There is no fear of the blank page, because I know I can easily remove a section once it's complete, which means I'm FINALLY journaling again! I don't leave home without it. I bring it with me EVERYWHERE! It fits in my purse, and I can even remove a section or two if I'm trying to pack light.
Participants will have an array of designs and fabrics to choose from, and can request their preferred metal (the brass is my favorite) and can email me a cover design ahead of time.
Seats are limited, so please shoot me an email back to reserve yours, or book it
HERE.
Class is $125 and includes all materials (including metal, fabric, book board, elastic and a 4 pack of inserts)
