The dragonfly begins and spends most of its life submerged in water, as a nymph- a water bug. When the time comes for it to morph into a dragonfly, it crawls from the water, finds a quiet spot to emerge from its hydrophilic body and spreads its wings for the first time. From that moment, it can no longer enter the water. Its life forever changed.
Dragonflies are revered by many as a symbol of transition and transformation and often seen as a messenger between worlds: A metaphor for our own passage from this world to the next-
